INFANTS

Welcome to the Infant Rooms at Millard Children's Academy, where you can be rest assured that your baby will be getting the best possible care available! At Millard Children's Academy, we understand that trusting your child's care to others is a difficult decision to make and we will do everything in our power to make your family feel comfortable in our center. We appreciate the opportunity to help your child learn and thrive.

Renowned psychologist, Jean Piaget, labeled the developmental stage that begins at birth as the sensorimotor stage. Infants keenly take in their environment through their senses of touch, taste, sight, sound, and smell. Our goal is to positively guide your child through this stage as they discover their new world and tackle such developmental milestones as learning to control movement, eat, babble and talk, crawl, and eventually walk. We recognize that Infants progress at a predictable, yet highly individualized rate. To accommodate this, we have two Infant Rooms designed to meet the needs of each child as they grow.

Our youngest babies (ages 6 weeks to 8+ months) are lovingly cared for in our Infant One room. This inviting room provides a balance of calm, to promote the rest that newborns need; and stimulation, to encourage cognitive development. We can accommodate 12 infants in this room, each with their own crib, as we do not practice crib-sharing. There is a minimum of one teacher for every four Infants, and plenty of management and support staff to assist if our caregivers need a hand.

Our Infant One staff caters to each infant's individual schedule, as every newborn's sleeping patterns and eating habits are unique. In both of our Infant Rooms, via the Procare Parent Engagement App and/or a Daily Sheet, you will receive details about your child's nutritional intake, sleeping and diapering times, and information about your child's day. During those first few months, your child's schedule will change often. Therefore, we welcome fluid parent communication and are happy to take your peace-of-mind phone calls or messages via the app at any time, just as we will contact you with any questions or concerns that we may have regarding your child. Our open-door policy allows for parents to drop in at any time, whether to just take a peek, or to stay for a feeding or tummy time.

As your child becomes more mobile and can better adapt to a routine, they will transition into our Infant Two room, where they will remain until they are 18 months old and considered a Toddler. In this spacious 12-crib room your rapidly developing child will spend their day exploring their environment. Children at this age learn best through play, and our dynamic staff enjoys singing, dancing, blowing bubbles, reading, and painting with the children. In addition to cultivating your child's emerging verbal skills, our caregivers will teach your child to communicate via baby sign language to better convey their needs.

To facilitate gross motor coordination, the older Infants have the opportunity to go and play in our Lower Level gym. Weather-permitting, their teachers will also take the little ones outside to play on our age-appropriate Lower Level playground. These experiences help to broaden your child's world, as well as promote the habit of physical activity.

Despite the activities and high level of individualized care, there are no activity fees, supply fees, maintenance fees, or contracts to sign. There is, however, a security deposit required to hold your infant's spot since space is limited and the demand for quality infant care is high. This deposit is credited to your MCA account after twelve weeks of care; it is forfeited if you later choose to not attend or disenroll before the full twelve weeks.

We'd welcome the opportunity to show you these serene, yet stimulating rooms! Please call or email us to obtain current rates and availability information, or to schedule your tour today! Contact information can be found on our CONTACT US page.
